Sport> Four area boys named STAC all-conference


Elmira High School, Corning and Horseheads were each represented on the Southern Tier Athletic Conference Metro/West all-conference boys soccer team for the 2016 season.

Corning had two all-conference picks in senior goalkeeper Erik Ekstrom and senior defender Jacob Grano. Horseheads senior defender Isaac Pastel was also named to the Metro/West team along with Elmira junior defender Nate Forrest.


The coaches' other all-conference picks were Ithaca senior goalie Kevin Klaben, Vestal junior defender Carter Beaulieu, Maine-Endwell senior defender Jamal Auguste, Ithaca senior midfielder Alex Patz, Binghamton senior midfielder Ben Miller, Vestal junior midfielder Parker McKnight, M-E senior midfielder Matt Rose, Ithaca junior midfielder Mason Todhunter, Vestal senior forward John Scott, Vestal sophomore forward Dan Mansfield, M-E junior forward Jameson Pitts, Binghamton senior forward Ismar Turkovic and Ithaca senior forward Liam McCarthy.

STAC West all-division goalies were Elmira sophomore Luke Baldwin and Horseheads senior Tyler Morehouse. All-division defenders were Elmira senior Paul Milliken, Corning senior Mike Crouse, Ithaca senior Theo Cowett and Horseheads senior Evan Kuhl. Midfielders were Elmira junior Gavin Wise, Corning senior Cam Metarko, Horseheads senior Jordan McCreary and Ithaca junior Joe Duncan. The forwards were Corning junior Isaac Cornfield, Ithaca junior Andreas Lambrou, Horseheads senior Kellen Boyles and Horseheads senior Nick Juan.
