THE
WORTH OF YOUR SOUL
“For what shall it profit a man, if he
shall gain the whole world and lose his soul? Or what shall a man give in
exchange for his soul?”
“And what shall do you benefit if you gain
the whole world but lose your soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?”
(Matt. 16:26) (NLT).
Think of it! Is there anything more
valuable than your soul? Or have you found anything that can be exchanged for
your soul? I’m sure you have found none and there can never be one. Noting on
this earth can be equated to the soul of a man. Your soul is most precious,
most valuable and no amount of money or wealth can purchase it. This is
wonderful. What a precious creature you are. Fearfully and wonderfully made. (Ps.
139:14).
But do you acknowledge who you are? Have
you in any way sold or exchange your soul for wealth, fame, title, position,
education, children or politics? Ask yourself, can any of these really worth an
exchange for your soul?
Gold, diamond, silver, precious stones etc,
are all valuable and expensive jewelry that are cherished and handled with care
in order to prevent them from being stolen or destroyed. Except the wealthy
ones people make deliberate effort to get them either through months of
financial savings or forgoing other important need.
These are jewelry that are exchangeable and
perishable, but see how much effort people put to have and secure them. Now ask
yourself, how much effort have you made to take care and preserve of your soul
which can neither be exchanged nor bought with money and more voluble?
Definitely, nothing is worth exchanging
your soul with. Cars, houses, gold, silver, diamond, position, title, etc. can be
exchanged for money in times of need but not your soul.
Do you know that the value of your soul is
worth much more than the entire world’s wealth? Mk. 8:36.
God places much value to your soul and to
redeem it from destruction gave His only begotten son Jesus Christ, His beloved
son to pay the price on the Cross – a shameful death.
No wonder the bible says there is joy in
heaven over one lost sinners who repented and returns to God (Lk. 15:7). God is
still waiting for your return.
Satan knows this and that is why he is
fighting very hard to deceive mankind to commit sin against God, so that he can
have an opportunity to cage and exchange such a soul with the glittering things
of this world. Why? Just to make heaven not to rejoice over that soul. He
deceived Adam and Eve and they were thrown out of the Garden of Eden. He tried
it on Jesus but did not succeed (Matt. 4:8-9). He is still trying the same
tricks on mankind. Will you allow him?
Please do not allow him to succeed either.
Know that everything in this world is temporary.
Jesus has finished the redemption work. He
victoriously trample on Satan and overcome him by the blood of the lamb and by
our testimony (Rev. 12:11).
This victory is for as many as acknowledge
His work on the Cross and receive Him as Savior and Lord of their lives. Have
you accepted Jesus into your life? Then, be careful not to be distracted by the
pleasures and riches of this world that will soon pass away (2Pet. 3:7, 10) Do
not trade your soul to the devil. Have you not accepted Jesus Christ? Then,
today is the day of Salvation.
Remember, what you are regarding now as
more precious to you than the salvation of your soul will soon disappoint you.
The rich man in Lk. 12:16-2, was called a
“fool” and his soul required when he refused to acknowledge God who gave him
power to make wealth.
Resist
the devil, do not allow the pleasures and wealth of this world to distract you
at the detriment of your soul. (Matt. 6:19-12) advice “Lay up not for
yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, where
thieves break through and steal. But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven,
where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break
through nor steal. “For where your treasure is there will your heart be also”.
Where is your focus?
What are you doing with your soul? Are you
just playing church or you have a good relationship with Jesus Christ? Know
that you shall one day stand before God to give account of how you lived your
life on earth. Are you sure of where your soul will spend eternity if the
trumpet sounds now? Only the redeemed who have been washed in the blood of the
lamb and are faithful walking in His steps, can have access to His glorious
kingdom.
Today, if you are willing ad obedient you
can assured of accessing Hid kingdom after this life. All you need to do is;
Acknowledge the areas you are now walking right with God, Confess your
inadequacies to Him, determine to forsake them wholehearted and receive Jesus
as Lord and Savior of your life.
Once this is done, you are assured to
salvation. Decide now.
Do not trade your soul with anything on
this earth. Nothing is worthy your soul.
It is precious. Guard it jealously and
cherish it. It is more than gold, diamond or other costly things of life.
Always remember, that your adversary, Satan the devil is daily struggling hard
to destroy your soul in hell fire. (1Pet. 5:8).
Give him no opportunity.
JESUS
IS COMING SOONER THAN YOU THINK. LK. 12:40
