PDP youths condemn incerceration of Kano singer over‘anti-Ganduje’ songs
The group said the chairman of Kano state censorship board, Ismaila Afakallahu, confirmed that Sadiq will remain in prison till Friday.
n a post on its Twitter handle (@PDPNYF), the youths berated the APC, stressing that the ruling party “brought shame and disgrace to Nigerian politics.”
The singer, while speaking to the media before his incarceration, alleged that he was being targeted and persecuted because of his support for former Gov. Rabiu Kwankwaso.
But the Kano censorship board has denied the allegation, insisting the matter was not about politics.
According to the board’s chairman, the singer actually applied for approval from the board but did not wait to receive the necessary certificate of approval before releasing his song.
“Yes he actually brought the song for censorship and before we can grant him a certificate of approval, he went ahead to launch the song. For doing that he has faulted the censors’ board rule and we are charging him for that.
“Censoring a movie or song can take up to three weeks or more depending on the complexity of the song or film,” he stated.
