APC chieftain attacked in Taraba state
- An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain was attacked by gunmen in Ibi local government area of Taraba state
- The incident occurred at Mala village on Wednesday, December 29, at about 6 pm
- One person died from the attack while three others were injured
APC chieftain was attacked in Taraba state
One person has been confirmed dead after some
gunmen attacked an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Ibi
local government area, Taraba state.
The police spokesperson for the Taraba
state police command David Misal said Adamu Mohammed was attacked at
Mala village at about 6 pm on Wednesday, December 29.
Misal also said that three people were injured during the incident and
are currently receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre in
Jalingo.
Misal said those injured - Abubakar Zaidu, 26,
Ibrahim Abdulkadir 26, and Sahabi Manaja, 34 – have also been placed on
admission by doctors in the health facility.
He
said Mohammed, who was a former local government council chairman had
been assaulted by some youths when he visited Dampar ward to fraternise
with APC supporters over Christmas.
He said the police, however, managed to contain the situation in Dampar and Ibi with the politician escaping unhurt.
The police also said no arrest has been made so far, although the incident is currently under investigation.
Meanwhile, South-South APC chieftain and second republic senator Chief Spanner Francis Okpozo died on Monday, December 26.
Close family sources said Okpozo died after a brief illness.
